  • The teacher, incorrectly says, that saying "God Bless You" was to dispel evil spirits.  It was really to ask God to bless someone who might have the plague.  Regardless, I think the teacher is afraid that if saying "God Bless You" dispels evil spirits, he would be "dispelled" out of a job.
